| Fairmont Hotel Ball 2010 |
|
Event: Fairmont Copley Plaza Ball Capacity: 550 persons Location: Fairmont Main Ball Room, Copley Plaza, Boston MA
DJ: Myself (Joshua van Aalst) Lighting Operator: Dan Jenzen The Fairmont Hotel's main ball room is an elegant space. Beautiful guilt gold columns, paintings, large mirrored doors e.t.c. On the out set it appeared as quite a challenging room to light, the reason being... when the venue is this beautiful why light it at all! After Dan and I checked out the venue, we noticed that the large ceiling was paint with light colors that would pick up lights and hold the color. With that as a base we decided on high powered LED lights to point at the roof, creating an affect that made the entire roof of this large space change colors. From Red to Orange to Yellow. It looked spectacular. We then decided to add some depth to the lighting show by using trussing of different heights to place the moving lights on. All in all we managed to produce a show that provided a classical feel during dinner (complete with Mozart and Chopin playing lightly in the background) and a full blown dance party afterwards.
