Event: MIT Business School Fall Ball Capacity: 450 persons Location: The State Room, Boston MA
DJ: Myself (Joshua van Aalst) Lighting Operator: Dan Jenzen The State Room is a unique space with very high ceilings and a large glass wall. To make the most of the space I took advantage of the large white walls and columns, which will absorb light. I and my team installed powerful uplighting around the base of the back white walls and the columns. The uplighting was designed to slowly fade between warm colors during dinner and then for the later dancing stage of the event to rapidly change colors and chase patterns around the room. To then add some beauty to the room, I used moving heads to slowly move stars over the ceiling during dinner and then rapidly move during the later dancing stage. You can see the full effect below:
